How to Delete PC MightyMax

A computer infected with PC MightyMax leaves no question that there's a problem. Constant pop-up windows and alert sounds indicate there are infections that the purchase of the full MightyMax package will fix. In some cases, PC MightyMax directs your browser to unwanted websites and blocks programs that will help you remove it. It's a type of malware called scareware, intended to alarm a computer user into providing personal and financial information. PC MightyMax can be removed manually with a combination of uninstalling and deleting registry entries, or by restoring your computer to a point prior to the appearance of PC MightyMax.

Removing PC MightyMax Manually
Open Control Panel on your Windows 8 computer by moving your cursor to the upper-right corner of the monitor, moving the cursor down, then clicking "Search." Type "control panel" then click "Control Panel" from the search results. Under "View by:" select "Large Icons and click "Programs and features," then click "Uninstall." Locate PC MightyMax and follow the screen instructions to remove the program.

Reboot your computer in Safe mode by clicking the "Power" button in the Settings charm. Press and hold the "Shift" key on your keyboard and click "Restart." Select "Troubleshoot" from the options, then click "Advanced Options" and "Enable Safe Mode." Your computer will restart and open the Startup Settings menu. Select "Enable Safe Mode with Networking."

Press and hold the "Windows" key and press "R." In the Run window, type "regedit" and click "OK." Click "Yes" in the User Account Control window and the Registry Editor will open.

Press "CTRL-F." Type "mighty" into the "Find what:" bar and click "Find Next." Each registry line with the word "mighty" included is listed. Locate the lines "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PC MightyMax" and "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PC MightyMax." Right-click each line and select "Delete."

Restart your computer in regular mode and verify that PC MightyMax is no longer active.

Restoring a Previous Windows Configuration
Move your cursor to the upper-right corner of the monitor, move the cursor down, and click "Search." Type "system restore" and select "System Restore" from the search results.

Click "Next" in the System Restore menu. Choose a system restore point prior to the time PC MightyMax appeared on your computer.
