How to Fix the Screen Size on a Laptop
It can be vastly irritating when your monitor resolution or "screen size" gets out of line. It can prevent you from using your computer effectively, especially if the size is larger than your monitor supports. At too-high resolutions, readability issues abound, and additionally, will place higher strain on older computers. At too-low resolutions, graphics become distorted and pixelated and the resolution of the monitor will often be too low to display some applications adequately.
On your laptop, right click on the desktop. This will bring up a small prompt with several options.
Click "Properties". This will open a new window. Navigate to the "Settings" tab.
Using the slider tab labeled "Resolution," experiment and find a resolution that appears comfortably on your monitor. Click "OK".
Resolution Out of Range
If your resolution has gone out of range (so high the monitor displays nothing.) Reboot the computer.
As the computer is rebooting, press the F8 key repeatedly. Do not stop until a "Boot menu" appears.
Select "Boot in VGA mode". This will boot your computer with the lowest possible monitor resolution settings. From here, follow the steps in Section 1.
